Honduras After the Coup: The Resistance Continues
June 28 was the 1st anniversary of the 2009 Honduran coup d'état which ousted elected President Manuel Zelaya and led to Pepe Lobo rising to power in Honduras. The coup seems to be a fait accompli, and Honduras is off the radar of many news watchers. Yet, average Hondurans still desire a return to democracy. We talk with Minnesota Hands Off Honduras Coalition organizers about the history of the original "banana republic", the context of the coup, and what people are doing locally to act in solidarity with the pro-democracy movement in Honduras.
