International Solidarity Under Attack!

Local activist Sarah Martin of Women Against Military Madness (WAMM) and Sarah Smith of the Committee to Stop FBI Repression on their experiences since becoming a target of the FBI.

In 2009 Martin, a great-grandmother and WAMM organizer, attempted to travel to Palestine, was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport, thrown into an Israeli jail, and deported back to the U.S. Martin later learned that one of her fellow travelers was an FBI informant. Since the deportation, Martin has been subpoenaed and re-subpoenaed to appear before a federal grand jury in Chicago.

Along with Martin and 21 other US international solidarity activists, Sarah Smith, a young Jewish woman from Chicago, was also subpoenaed to appear before the same grand jury. (recorded May, '11)
